Elizabeth has been working in geriatrics for 17 years. Emigrating from the Philippines in 2003, she has brought with her a mentality of caring for family and others. Elizabeth started as a Home Health Aide, became a Certified Nurse’s Aide, then a Licensed Practical Nurse. Eventually, she obtained her Associate’s in Science at Thomas Nelson Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences with a major in Health Management at Old Dominion University. During her Administrator-in-Training at Riverside Lifelong Health, Elizabeth performed different duties in various facilities that led her to an Administrator role at Riverside Convalescent Center-Saluda. Elizabeth is also currently serving as Secretary for Virginia Healthcare Association (VHCA)-Tidewater Region.
At home she enjoys karaoke, cooking, photography, and playing golf with her family.
Elizabeth believes that being an Administrator at VHS means being part of a team who is focused in delivering high quality living and care. Her personal vision is, “Compassion is strength, which should be built on and shared in whatever way possible.”
Joel is Assistant Administrator at York Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He oversees to day-to-day operations of the facility. Before joining VHS, Joel served eight years in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He worked on several projects with the Pearl Harbor survivors from World War II and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal two times during his service in the Navy. He has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and is currently working on getting his administrator’s license. Joel is married and has three children. He and his family love the beach and going to the pool. Joel is inspired by the quote, “A little bit of kindness goes a long way” and is motivated by seeing the Residents happy and well taken care of.
