VHS CEO’s national recognition shared by news outlets
The Gloucester Gazette-Journal, based in Gloucester County, Virginia, shared the news that Virginia Health Services CEO and President Mark Klyczek was one of 39 participants
Individuals should consult with their physician to determine what is the best fit. Our nursing and rehabilitation centers offer some comforts of home and have amenities such as an on-site salon, regular activities and food programs, and nutritional dining services
Our residents and their loved ones meet with our team members to establish a plan of care. A Resident Navigator will help introduce new admissions to the nursing care community and ease the transition process.
The interdisciplinary care plan team includes nursing staff, social workers, recreational professionals, rehabilitation therapists and dieticians. A team of physical, occupational and speech therapists from VHS Rehabilitation will work with individuals to recover from injury or help with daily life skills. All nursing facilities have an on-site therapy room. We also offer a physician-led Palliative Care Program.
The private and semi-private rooms at all of our nursing care facilities are furnished, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the centers. There are landscaped courtyards for relaxing outdoors, and other common spaces are open to residents and their loved ones.
Our residents are encouraged to bring touches from home to make their space feel cozy and familiar.
OUR SERVICES
VHS OFFERS AN ARRAY OF NURSING AND REHABILITATION SERVICES
Skilled care is nursing and therapy care that can only be safely and effectively performed by, or under the supervision of, professionals including physicians, nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists. It’s healthcare given when treatment, management, and observation of your condition, and evaluation of your care, is necessary. These services are usually required after a major healthcare event including a stroke, heart attack or surgery, and most often after a hospitalization.
When care needs become too much to go home, our long-term care provides a safe environment. Residents in long-term care benefit from daily help with toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and have ambulatory and other health issues that require constant care and supervision.
If an individual needs a brief recovery period (less than two weeks) following an illness, accident, surgery or other medical problem, Virginia Health Services offers respite — or short-term — nursing care. We also offer respite care for individuals whose families need additional caregiving support during emergencies or vacations.
VHS has dedicated Memory Care programs at Walter Reed Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester and Lancashire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kilmarnock (coming fall 2024). Memory Care is provided in a special secure unit to protect memory-impaired residents, including individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Individualized care is provided in an environment designed specifically for Memory Care residents by specially trained team members who understand the needs of this unique population. Memory Care units are typically staffed at higher levels to ensure residents’ needs are met.
