Carter oversees the day-to-day operations as the Administrator of York Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and The Hamilton Assisted Living.
His background includes a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from James Madison University. He completed his Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program while previously with Virginia Health Services. Carter brings his experience and enthusiasm for long-term care with the goal of enriching the lives of our residents. “It is truly rewarding to see how our work has a direct impact on the lives and wellbeing of others,” he says.
Carter regularly attends events with the Virginia Healthcare Association to stay up-to-date on trends in the long-term care industry. Outside of work, he enjoys an active lifestyle and playing games of pickleball with his wife and friends.
Mackenzie started as an intern with Virginia Health Services in 2022 working with our senior living communities. She graduated from James Madison University in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration with minors in Business and Gerontology. Mackenzie began full-time with VHS after graduation as Resident Navigator at Coliseum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She completed the Administration-In-Training (AIT) program with Coliseum Administrator Dudley Haas as her preceptor. Mackenzie was offered the opportunity to come to York and The Hamilton as the Assistant Administrator and started in June 2024. She is currently working on obtaining her master’s degree in Health Administration.
Mackenzie enjoys spending her free time on the beach with a book in her hands. She is passionate about the older adult population and making a positive impact in their lives through serving them. In her new leadership position, she strives to follow “Leadership is an action not a position.”
